Overview

The Reno15 has the bigger battery and the better benchmark result, so if you only want the winner, it’s the Reno15. But the gap is narrower than the headline numbers make it look, and one of them might still be the smarter buy depending on what you pay and where you live.

Here’s how the two actually compare.

A 500mAh jump is about 8% more capacity. Same screen size, same refresh rate, same charging speed. The Reno15 has 500mAh more capacity, but its chipset is different too, so its actual endurance also depends on how efficiently the newer hardware uses that power.

What the benchmark numbers say

PCMark’s battery test runs a mix of simulated everyday tasks, including browsing and productivity activities, to measure how long a phone lasts under controlled conditions. Results are useful for comparisons, but testing settings and stopping percentages matter, so a number is only comparable to numbers from the same lab.

Test sourceOPPO Reno14OPPO Reno15
91mobiles (PCMark)12.3 hrs17.1 hrs
Technobaboy (PCMark Work 3.0, 80% brightness)10 hrs 56 minNot tested
Gadget Pilipinas (PCMark, Standard refresh rate)16 hrs 0 minNot tested
Gadget Pilipinas (PCMark, Adaptive / High)13 hrs 19 min / 13 hrs 10 minNot tested

Look at the Reno14 column alone. The same phone scored anywhere from under 11 hours to 16 hours depending on who tested it and which refresh rate was on. That spread is bigger than the difference between the two phones in any single test, which tells you something useful: don’t treat these figures as promises.

The only same-lab pair comes from 91mobiles, and it favors the Reno15 by roughly 4 hours 45 minutes. That is a much larger gain than an 8% bigger battery would suggest on its own. But this comparison can’t tell us how much of it comes from the extra capacity, the chipset, the software or the test conditions, so treat it as a strong hint and not a measured cause.

The chipset changed too

Capacity isn’t the only thing that moved. The Reno14 runs a MediaTek Dimensity 8350, while the Reno15 (global and India) switched to a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. Performance results are mixed. 91mobiles’ reported AnTuTu scores are almost level (about 1.41 million for the Reno14, 1.39 million for the Reno15, though individual runs aren’t a strict like-for-like test), and some reviewers and comparisons put the Dimensity 8350 ahead in raw-performance and GPU tests. For performance-focused buyers the Reno14 can actually be the stronger pick, so the Reno15’s battery advantage doesn’t automatically make it the better gaming phone. Watch out for the Chinese-market Reno15 as well. It’s a different phone, with a Dimensity 8450 and a smaller 6,200mAh battery, so don’t mix its specs up with the global model.

Charging: close, but not identical

Both phones support 80W wired charging and neither has wireless charging. Charge times aren’t identical, though, and the figures aren’t measured the same way. 91mobiles’ charging-time chart, which runs from 20% to 100%, lists about 0.8 hours (roughly 48 minutes) for the Reno14 and about 0.9 hours (roughly 54 minutes) for the Reno15, rounded to a tenth of an hour. So the Reno14 finished slightly faster. Charger, temperature and starting percentage all change the result, and box contents vary by market, so check whether a charger is included where you buy.

FAQ

Does the OPPO Reno15 really last longer than the Reno14?

Yes, in the one test where both were measured side by side, the Reno15 lasted about 17 hours against about 12 for the Reno14. The larger battery likely helps, but the test can’t separate capacity from chipset or software, and your own results will depend on usage.

How big are the batteries on each phone?

The Reno14 has a 6,000mAh battery. The Reno15 has 6,500mAh.

Do the Reno14 and Reno15 support wireless charging?

No. Both base models are wired only, at up to 80W.

Will either phone last two days?

Light users may stretch either phone beyond a day, particularly on Wi-Fi, but two-day endurance isn’t guaranteed. With regular 5G, social media and camera use, plan to charge nightly.

Is the Reno15 worth the extra money just for battery?

Only if the price difference is small. The capacity gain is modest, so a discounted Reno14 can be the better value.

Final verdict

The Reno15 is the better phone for battery life: more capacity, newer software and the stronger test result. The Reno14 is still a solid all-day phone, and if a good deal pushes it well below the Reno15’s price, take the deal and don’t look back.
